HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! ๐Ÿ’

(This is going to be a strange segue, but bear with me....)

One of my favorite writer-podcasters (Kelly Corrigan) recently lost her mom. She told those of us on her email list how profoundly impactful it's been to have a support system of listeners/readers from around the world sharing this burden with her.

...and I think the same goes for sharing celebration.

It's not that I consider my birthday to be that big of a deal, but I *do* believe in celebrating the little things in life.

There's something about having a network of Teacher Friends - like you! - to share fun things with. I hope you know how sincere I am when I say THANK YOU for being here.

Four years ago, I was still thinking, "Who am I to attempt to offer anything to this profession?" Fast forward to today and - even though Imposter Syndrome is still a total drag - I have a growing collection of evidence that I do, actually, have perspectives worth sharing.

Thank you for listening to the podcast, for reading these emails, and for engaging with me on social media. Thanks for the DMs and the email replies... I've lost count of how many times they've kept me going when I've wanted to give up.

And to those of you in the Patreon Community? Sigh. I have no words. I just adore you.

Basically, I am nothing but grateful today.

So - cheers to 42 years! May we find joy in the memories, hope in the future, and contentment with the here-and-now. And - may we do it all together. We're so much better that way. ๐Ÿฅ‚

Ways I Can Help You This Summer:

Podcast CONVERSATION Series!

I'm featuring incredible conversations with some of my teacher friends on the podcast this summer.

Thus far, we've had visits with Nicola Cantan and Kevin Olson... and the party is just getting started!

Each week, a mystery guest is joining me to revisit a topic from a previous episode.

This coming Monday, I have an A-list teacher coming to chat with me about Episode 034: Cheers to Online Engagement (aka, important considerations regarding online teacher forums, etc.)

EXPANDED Patreon Offerings!

This summer, I'm playing Repertoire-Matchmaker over in the Patreon Community.

In lieu of our usual Teachers Teaching Teachers meet-ups, I'm sharing recorded segments of a new offering, What Should I Teach Next?

The premise is this: Members submit a student profile. They tell me what their student has loved playing, what they haven't, etc.

Then, like magic, I match them with several pieces of supplemental repertoire that suits their description.

If you don't already know - choosing just the right pieces for students is one of my favorite things... so I am PUMPED to flex that muscle more this summer.

PS: All Patreon Members are also getting access to BONUS CONVERSATIONS from our Summertime Conversation Series.

...so much value for such few dollars!

Propel to Excel: Online Summer Camp for Piano Teachers!

What do Marvin Blickenstaff, Leila Viss, Bradly Sowash, Kevin Olson, and *I* all have in common? ๐Ÿซจ

We are presenting LIVE at this exciting online event in June.

The premise is to feature ways we can help diversify our students' skillsets, in hopes of keeping them engaged (and marketable!) for the long-haul.

If you're looking to spend time learning from dynamic presenters WITHOUT traveling, this is the summer event for you.

Summer Pedagogy for High Schoolers

One of my very favorite offerings!

If you have high school students who play at the intermediate level or above and are interested in learning the ropes of piano teaching, please consider sending them my way.

PS: The nuts-and-bolts of running this program is what I'm speaking about at the Propel to Excel camp mentioned above!
